Black is the color of coal, ebony and of outer space. It is the darkest color, the result of the absence of light. It is the opposite of white and often represents darkness in contrast with light. Black was one of the first colours used by artists in neolithic cave paintings. In the Roman Empire, it became the colour of mourning, and over the centuries it was frequently associated with death, evil, witches and magic. In the 14th century, it began to be worn by royalty, the clergy, judges and government officials in much of Europe. It became the color worn by English romantic poets, businessmen and statesmen in the 19th century, and the most important thing…it became the HIGHEST FASHION COLOUR IN THE 20TH CENTURY.
Black in fashion history
Black first became a fashionable colour for women in 1926, when Coco Chanel designed the simple black dress and was published in Vogue magazine. She famously said,
“A woman needs just three things: a black dress, a black sweater, and, on her arm, a man she loves.”
Others designers contributed to the trend of the little black dress. The Italian designer Gianni Versace said,
“Black is the quintessence of simplicity and elegance.”,
and the french designer Yves Saint Laurent said,
“Black is the liaison which connects art and fashion.”
One of the most famous black dresses of the century was designed by Hubert de Givenchy and was worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Black + Fashion = Elegance
Black is the color most commonly associated with elegance in Europe and the United States.
The designer Karl Lagerfeld, explaining why black was so popular, said:
“Black is the color that goes with everything. If you’re wearing black, you’re on sure ground.”
Skirts have gone up and down and the fashions have changed, but the black dress has not lost its position as the essential element of a woman’s wardrobe. The fashion designer Christian Dior said,
“Elegance is a combination of distinction, naturalness, care and simplicity, and black exemplified elegance.”
Why black is addictive? First of all, because it’s easy. That seems to encompass several things. It doesn’t show the dirt. It doesn’t date. It goes with most colours and also goes with other blacks. And there’s an economic point too: black can look smart even if it’s cheap.
So, fashionistas, wear black because is simple and practical for work, always chic for a party and beyond this, BLACK IS MAGICAL.

Styletto
E un outfit foarte puternic si decorul ales e in acelasi ton. Lalele sunt detaliu pretios, creaza senzatia ca te afli intre sfarsitul si inceputul unei povesti de dragoste. Foarte multa poezie in aceste imagini, felicitari.
