My first fashion week was 3 years ago, here in NY, so I waited with impatience to get back. I was curious how things evolved and how the shows are organised now, given that the location at Lincoln Center is no longer available. I remember dearly that location.
Now, the shows take place in different locations about 3 primary and many underground individual locations and in personal showrooms. In parallel with the main agenda there are also 3 major agencies, which have shows. Which means that many are happening at the same time and sometimes you can not go at them all.
My first day at NYFW began with two presentations, one at 9 and another at 10 am, which I missed due to the long trip. I updated my info immediately, but I’m sorry that I lost the homage to Bill Cunningham which took place at Nicolas K’s show.
I recovered the shows with a very hectic day, long waiting times and surprising collections. FTL Moda had a charity event for India’s acid victims with collections inspired by their culture.
Australian Swim show brought a number of designers on the catwalk with very minimal models, but current. The Sabo Luxe collection was my favorite, but that’s probably because I was following them for a long time on instagram. I rand from the last presentation in the next showroom to see the collection of Jerome LaMaar , a young designer, originally from the Bronx. And in the evening, Adam Selman has shown his collection under the gaze of an impressive audience. Knitwear, denim, modern pieces with interesting cuts, monochrome looks in contrast with other super colorful ones. A very dynamic collection and totally my style. See the entire collection here.
In the coming days I will tell you about the main trends from NYFW, the collections that impressed me, but also about the presence of Romanian designers in NY.
For my first outfit at NYFW I mixed a Marie Ollie pyjama style suit, with a similar style top from Intimissimi, accessorised it with a clutch from my collection with YVY Bags & fur slippers from Zenon. A relaxed yet trendy look.
A big thank you to Silvia Cristescu, who helped me in the two absolutely crazy days when I put the together the looks.
I’m usually very organized, but I had many shooting days for Ploiesti Shopping City, as you may have seen, but also because I waited the flight confirmation with the company that I wanted. For a while now, I’m a Flying Blue member and I accumulate miles every flight. Maybe in two years, from so many travels, I will gather so many that I will take a trip around the world. That’s on my wishlist! So, Air France & KLM rule.
Another big thank to Sephora, we had a lovely collaboration throughout fashion week & to Vegis.ro too, because they kept me energised.
Kisses
